Sky Island School currently serves K–6. We provide a small, nature-based learning environment that combines academics, arts, social-emotional learning, and outdoor experiences to support the growth of the whole child.

Students may be dropped off between 7:45 AM and 8:15 AM. The school day begins at 8:15 AM and ends at 2:15 PM. Pick-up is from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM, and After School Care is available until 5:00 PM for registered families.

We offer After School Care until 5:00 PM on regular school days. Students may also be dropped off beginning at 7:45 AM before the start of the school day. Please contact the office for current After School Care rates and registration information.

We intentionally maintain small class sizes to provide individualized support, foster meaningful relationships between students and teachers, and create opportunities for hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Our current class size is approximately 12 students.

No, we ask families to pack a healthy, waste-conscious lunch and snacks. Water stations will be available for the children.

To enroll, complete the Student Inquiry Form on our website and schedule a tour of the school. After your tour, you will receive access to the enrollment application and information about required documents, including proof of residency, birth certificate, and immunization records or exemption forms.

Sky Island School accepts Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funds and private tuition payments. Tuition rates may vary by school year. Please visit our Admissions page or contact the office for current tuition information and payment options.

Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program allows eligible families to use state education funds for approved educational expenses, including private school tuition. The Origins Curriculum is a nature-centered, holistic learning framework that immerses students in global ecosystems while weaving together eco-literacy, mindfulness, and the creative arts. Through hands-on, real-world explorations of biomes, desert, forest, aquatic, grassland, and tundra, children develop emotional resilience, social skills, and a deep sense of environmental stewardship.

Yes. Outdoor learning is an important part of the Sky Island experience. Students regularly participate in nature-based activities, outdoor exploration, and hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom concepts with the world around them.

Sky Island School is a member of Cognia and is actively pursuing accreditation. Accreditation is a process that evaluates educational quality, continuous improvement, governance, and student outcomes.

Families can support and strengthen our school community by volunteering, attending events, helping with field trips, participating in family activities, and collaborating with teachers and staff.
